This moderate circular hike from Stonethwaite covers about 15.8 miles with roughly 4,625 ft of ascent and 4,860 ft of descent, offering a full day or better still a one or even two night wild camp if you set off late afternoon on the first day out in the valley and surrounding fells. Expect a long but steady route through classic Lake District scenery, with riverside paths, stone-walled fields, and higher open slopes giving wide views. Though graded easy in technical terms, the distance and elevation make it suitable for reasonably fit walkers.
