The trail is steeped in history, tracing the footsteps of the medieval Order of Knights. As you hike, you'll encounter several ruins and remnants of ancient fortifications. One of the most significant landmarks is the Nürburg Castle, a medieval fortress that dates back to the 12th century. Located approximately 5 km (3.1 miles) into the hike, the castle offers panoramic views of the surrounding Eifel region.
