Point-to-Point
This is a short but challenging walk, running alongside the funicular rail track. Sections of the path are uneven and stony and, combined with the steep gradient, mean that this walk is suited to more experienced walkers, with appropriate footwear. The uphill route starts from a tarmac route immediately to the right of the Montecatini Terme Funicular station (as you face the station). The route continues along the tarmac road for approx 0.2 miles, before the road ends and you continue straight ahead along a footpath. The footpath is quite uneven and stony in places but also benefits from being quite shady on a sunny day. There are also 14 small shrines, or "Stations of the Cross" alongside the path. The footpath emerges approximately 50 metres to the left of the Montecatini Alto Funicular station where, on a clear day, there are spectacular views of the surrounding countryside. Walkers should also be aware that ticks are prevalent in the Tuscany region.
