Adaptation of Ramblers route, also available on OS maps. Challenging loop hike starting and ending behind Tesco Upper Boat, covering about 5 miles (8,000 m) with steady climbs and descents. Expect around 273 m of elevation gain and 286 m of loss, giving sustained effort and rewarding valley and hillside views. The route includes varied terrain typical of South Wales uplands, making it best suited to fit, experienced hikers prepared for changing weather and uneven ground. New fencing installed by the local farmer makes navigation tricky at times - if you see a locked, chained gate, climb over it or you will find that your only other choice later is to climb over a barbed wire fence.
